Spring Break!
Oh my it is that time of year again. Spring Break. Not just any Spring Break, but Megan's senior break. Where did that come from? I remember just yesterday it seems that she was a sophomore and Lauren left for college, and I thought we had 3 years of these breaks to enjoy. But here we go. The last one with her before college. And to top it off, Austin is going to be with another family skiing in Lake Tahoe! So, with just us three, Megan decided to bring a friend and we are now going to the place Austin would rather not go, Palm Desert. Too boring for him, he hates to read, sit by a pool, shop and have fun long, conversation filled dinners. So be it, he will be active the whole week, skiing every day with a buddy and having a blast. I however, will be enjoying a wonderful break from this weather in my favorite place, PD. Loving that Megan is coming with us and loves to do all that we do. Loving that Reed and I will get to spend a ton of time together and loving that there are no plans! ( and no Hank. Sorry, we love you but...). We hope to see Lauren a few times and are looking forward to seeing Reed's family and celebrating his Birthday with them. Seriously though, such a different break than we are used to. Usually it is all about the kids, crazy, sunny and perfect. Things change and I am good with that, but I am a tad bit nostalgic and know that change usually means going back to the photo album for reminders of what was. What will never be the same. Not that new breaks won't be fun and special, just that they will be more unpredictable and spontaneous. Oh well. Like I said, I am thrilled to leave soon and thrilled that my senior wants to be with us, still. Who knows what we will be doing next year? I do think that when that time comes, it will feel like yesterday, again, when I wrote this!

Hank loves soccer now and gave up football! Here he is wondering who he can play with and is hoping Austin is finished with his homework. He looks up and thinks Austin is done and then gets a good grip on the ball. Then he proceeds to take the ball and go get his favorite buddy to play with him!

Oh Hank! It's a good thing you are so cute, because lately you are such a handful. What are we going to do with you?

Spring has arrived at our home!

Love the spring! I know it's cold out but everything is so beautiful. I have even taken Hank down to the lake already and he had a blast. But, I'm guessing his favorite thing to do this summer will be sitting on the dock and staring at the geese. He loves to watch them and never barks. He is mesmerized by them. Must be in his lineage! Oh Hank....

Tennis season is here!

Well, here we go again. Another and final high school tennis season has started. Megan had her first match yesterday at Washington High and played singles. She won 6-1 6-4. There team won 4-1. I will be trying to take a lot more pictures this year because clearly I won't get to next year when she plays at Hamilton. I know I will miss coming to all the matches in the spring time. I will actually miss ALL the fun and exciting athletic events that my girls have been in over the last 8 years. I know, luckily, I still have Austin to look forward to ( Districts ) in a few weeks, but it just won't be the same next year with both the girls gone. CWA got new tennis uniforms this year finally ( I picked them!) and they are really cute. Dark Green hoody sweatshirts are on the way. Very fun. Oh well. I will put more pictures up soon.

Lazy Day!
This is how I felt today, tired. After a great weekend with my friends in Palm Desert watching endless hours of amazing tennis, I am exhausted, like these here camels.. You would think I played, but just watching 4 days in a row in the hot sun is enough for me! I love this picture and it reminds me of one of my yoga poses "baby". lol. Great to be home but already missing the sun and fun. Wish I had pics of the weekend but we were too busy watching and seeing all the players at our hotel. Love it!!!!

Megan and Johnny (Shapton)
Austin and Nate (dates not there yet) @ the "Western" Tolo

I got this one picture of Austin and his friend Nate before the girls came over. I should have known that the girls would be arriving later, but at least I got this one shot. I did hear the girls were adorable. Only one more dance to go this freshman year and that is Prom in the spring. I took a picture of the pictures of Megan and Johnny. They had a blast and are adorable together. They actually really look like kids from the wild west. Megan also had on cute suspenders, but you can't see them. I love that both Austin and Megan got a chance to share one Tolo together. I know that was really fun for them to see each other there, even if it was from a senior to freshman distance across the room!

Austin's Party

So, there's the thing. Boy's are soooo different than girls. Austin just had his first high school party. It was tame. Just 14 kids. Half of them girls (perfect even number) Apparently that was important. Why you ask? I don't know. Did they have fun? Yea, I think so but I wouldn't really know. What were they playing out on the golf course for an hour laughing and running around in the dark? I really am not sure. Flashlight tag? No.There were no flash lights out there. But again, I think they had fun. Did they actually PLAY Apples to Apples? Probably, it sounded like it. How were the treats you might ask, like the cute wooden bowls of candy and striped fun bowls for the chips? Well? Was the pizza good? Too much? Not enough? Cheesey? Yummy? Don't know that either. I do know that the girls did not go into the hot tub because they "forgot" their swim suits. Eye roll.

So exactly what do I know? I know that Austin, not wanting to trouble his friend by asking them to bring sleeping bags (the boys) was able to some how provide them with some kind of bedding. I know that he chose to sleep on top of the pool table. I know that he was very tired the next day, I know that candy was enjoyed and pizza remnants were found. I know that the boys liked hot tubbing and that they actually found the laundry room to put their wet towels in. I know that for some reason my son changed in the weight room. Odd? I know that Hank had a blast sneaking in their room. And most importantly aside from knowing that they all had fun and it was a success ( in that I mean no injuries or crises of any kind), I know that I will never really know what they did, how it really was or anything at all that would interest and humor me as a mom. I do also know that we are done with party hosting for awhile and it will be some one else's turn to enjoy doing it next.

My whole point is that for years I have thrown many a party having the girls and always learned from each and every one. I knew what worked, what didn't. What was fun, what was not. Foods that passed and those that did not. It was fun every time and an adventure always. But that was the girl's. Boy's are different. I need to recognize that this was just the first of many "boy" high school parties that I will know about, but..... not really. They are different. No details. Just fun. Simple. Cool.
